11.7.2 Setting the application rate

Important

Note that even a small variation in the Thousand Grain Weight affects the number of kernels per m2 to a relatively significant degree.

  1. Enter the required application rate in number of kernels per m2.

  2. Seed germination must be carefully checked and be taken into consideration when entering the required number of kernels per m2. See example below.

    Example:

    • Required number of germinative kernels per m2: 400

    • Germination of the seed: 95%

    • Entered into the SeedEye menu (D): 400/0.95 = 421

The following equation can be used in order to calculate what a seed application rate in kg/ha corresponds to in number of germinative kernels m2:

    Germinative kernels per m2 = Seed amount (kg/ha) x Germination (%)/Thousand Grain Weight (g)
